NMRLC Conducts High-Impact STEM Night Outreach at Yorktown Elementary School
A dedicated team of Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC) Navy Seabees and Sailors conducted a high-impact Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Night outreach at Yorktown Elementary School on Oct. 1.
Through exceptional teamwork and coordination, the team delivered an immersive, hands-on experience for about 500 students and parents, showcasing critical military and medical capabilities.
The collective effort featured interactive static displays of an ambulance, protective gear demonstrations including the Medium Tactical Vest (MTV) and Kevlar helmets, and a specialized entomology exhibit hosted by Cmdr. Jennifer Simmons, NMRLC's Director for Administration.
Other participants included Construction Mechanic Senior Chief Steven Bussey, Construction Mechanic 1st Class Sean Kelly, Construction Electrician 2nd Class Dakota Black, Hospital Corpsman 2nd Kyra Gatt, and Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Avey Pokorny.
The joint initiative was highly successful, significantly strengthening community relations and inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders. Every member of the NMRLC team played a vital role in this achievement, representing our command with distinction.
Headed by Capt. Christopher Barnes, NMRLC develops, acquires, produces, fields, sustains, and provides enduring lifecycle support of medical materiel solutions to the Fleet, Fleet Marine Force, and Joint Forces in high-end competition, crisis, and combat. At the forefront of Navy Medicine’s strategic evolution, NMRLC is well positioned to be the Joint Force’s premier integrated medical logistics support activity.
